Mill Stream

John Anderson Brown, the founder of Warkworth established the first flour mill in the town. Brown and his brother harnessed the Mill Stream, building the dam, race and mill, which stood on the left bank just below the present bridge. The mill used water power from a flume off the weir to drive its grindstones. These have recently been located in the river bank and there is talk of reinstating the town's old flour mill.
